You look at the world around you, never feeling like you fit in anywhere, feeling so misunderstood.

No-one can ever know what your life has been like because you keep that part of you hidden away, you’ve done your best to keep it from others and just get through the day. But in reality, it’s hard to connect with others let alone feel like you are at times even in your own body.

You often feel numb and wish you could remember feeling love and happiness but that seems such a long time ago. It’s become difficult to feel or find moments of peace. Feelings of love, joy and comfort…. these feel foreign to you because you’ve been through some of the toughest experiences people can go through.

You’re wanting to move on, yet healing doesn’t happen overnight.

Marie helps people who feel they have missed out on life because of what they feel they have lived through. Clients often are longing to find comfort yet find themselves disappointed in their relationships as they are often left feeling misunderstood.

Single incident and complex trauma (PTSD/complex trauma)

Marie offers treatment for clients who suffer the consequences of childhood and adult experiences that have reduced their capacity to lead full and rich lives. Some of the indications that you may be a trauma survivor include anxiety, indecisiveness, excessive guilt and shame, depression and low self-esteem, flashback memories, and instability in work and relationships.

Marie works from within a relational framework, emphasising relational trauma, primitive self-states, creativity and Jungian theory in her clinical practice. She integrates a neurobiological informed trauma therapy to assist clients living with PTSD/complex trauma. Major breakthroughs in neuroscience have profoundly changed how we comprehend and treat psychological trauma. Marie’s research has explored how trauma-induced changes manifest as posttraumatic stress symptoms by studying fear memories and how these memories undergo change in the amygdala. Marie helps her clients understand the neurological impact this part of the brain can have on day to day living, in particular the defensive survival circuit underpinning emotions such as fear and anxiety, highlighting the importance of the limbic system and in particular the role of the amygdala and how to stabilise this part of the brain.
