Marie is a registered Medicare Psychology provider. In order to claim a rebate under Better Access Initiative (Medicare) you will need to make an appointment with your General Practitioner who will conduct an assessment. If you meet the relevant criteria your General Practitioner will complete a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) under the Better Access Initiative, which can provide access up to ten Psychology sessions within one calendar year. Please note, a brief report on assessment, progress and treatment will need to be provided to your referrer after the sixth and tenth sessions. The Federal Government cut back medicare rebated sessions in January 2023 to 10 sessions only for the calendar year. Please contact us for further information.
Marie is a registered provider with most major health care funds. With private health insurance, you may be eligible to claim partial costs of the consultation fee. You can also see Marie privately (without a GP referral or private health).
Please note you cannot use your private health insurance ancillary cover in conjunction with Medicare rebates for psychology services.
Each consultation is 50-minutes in duration. Extended and after hours (from 5 pm) consultations are also available. As a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA), clients receiving care under the Better Access Initiative will be eligible to receive a rebate of $141.85. Fees can be paid through an automatic payment system using the credit/debit details you provide at your first session or via our EFTPOS/HICAPS terminal. Please note mariecarmodypsychology does not accept American Express, Diners or cash for payment.
There is a cancellation policy to ensure that sufficient notice is provided to clinicians. If you need to cancel your appointment, please be aware of the following schedule of fees:
– 0-24 hour’s notice: Full fee charged
– 24-48 hour’s notice: 50% of fee charged
