Psychologist Fees & Referrals & Rebates

Medicare

Marie is a registered Medicare Psychology provider under the Better Access Initiative. To claim a rebate, you’ll need a referral from your GP and a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).

This plan provides access to up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year. A brief report on assessment and treatment will be provided to your referring GP after the sixth and tenth sessions, as required by Medicare.

You may choose to attend therapy for the sessions available to you under a Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plan, or you may decide to continue with more in-depth work after your Medicare-rebated sessions have been used. Marie offers a gradually reduced fee structure within each calendar year for clients who continue therapy beyond their ten Medicare-rebated sessions.

To enquire about an appointment, please contact Marie Carmody Psychology.

Note: In January 2023, the Federal Government reduced the annual Medicare rebate sessions to 10.
